The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a traffic advisory for Mombasa Road at the Athi River section in Machakos County due to an intercepted overloaded truck blocking a lane. This congestion was exacerbated by an accident at Maanzoni, completely blocking the Nairobi-bound section. Additionally, the road will face temporary closures on Sunday, August 3, for a football match at Nyayo Stadium.

Affected locations include Athi River, Maanzoni, Lusaka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout, Aerodrome Road, and sections of Lang'ata Road.
The Axle Load Enforcement Highway Unit has been dispatched to clear the truck.
The road closures on Sunday, August 3, are for the Harambee Stars' opening match in the 2024 African Nations Championships.
