Kenya and Zimbabwe, under the patronage of the African Union (AU), have merged all ongoing peace efforts in the eastern DRC into a single, unified African-led initiative to end the decades-long conflict. This resolution was reached in Nairobi, co-chaired by President William Ruto and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

• The new initiative consolidates frameworks like Nairobi and Luanda into one coherent mechanism, managed by a merged secretariat at AU headquarters in Addis Ababa.
• A panel of eminent African facilitators, including former Heads of State Olusegun Obasanjo, Uhuru Kenyatta, and Catherine Samba-Panza, will steer the process.
• All funding, including humanitarian support, will be coordinated through the AU, with an Extraordinary Virtual Joint Summit of EAC and SADC leaders to formally adopt these outcomes within seven days.
