National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has urged the Luhya community to support President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027, linking this backing to the region’s opportunity to produce Ruto’s successor in 2032.

• Wetang’ula made these remarks during the second anniversary celebrations of the Western Women Congress at Busibwabo Secondary School in Busia County on August 02, 2025.
• He cited President Ruto’s appointments of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and other Western Kenya leaders, as well as his own election as Speaker, as evidence of Ruto’s goodwill towards the region.
• Wetang’ula also welcomed ODM’s decision to collaborate with the government, praising Opposition leader Raila Odinga for prioritizing national stability.
