A police officer in Kitui is currently at large after allegedly shooting dead his girlfriend, Joy Mutisya, and her friend, identified only as Judy, following a dispute on Sunday, August 3 night. The officer, Constable Bernard Siambe of Kanyonyoo police station, abandoned his AK47 rifle with 26 bullets before escaping on foot.

• The suspect was armed with an AK47 rifle and 30 bullets when he left his duty station to confront his girlfriend at a bar.
• The incident occurred near a popular bar in Kitui, with the victims’ bodies taken to Kitui Level Five mortuary.
• The police recovered the abandoned AK47 rifle with 26 rounds and two spent cartridges at the scene as the search for the assailant continues.
