The Kenyan government has confirmed a payout of Ksh42 million to the Harambee Stars following their 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the opening game of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Sunday, August 3.

• President William Ruto guaranteed Ksh1 million per player for each tournament win.
• State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed confirmed that all 27 players and 15 technical bench members each received Ksh1 million.
• The Harambee Stars will face Angola on Thursday, August 7, and Morocco on Sunday, August 10, with further rewards promised for additional victories.
