A manhunt is underway in Mwingi, Kitui County, for a police officer accused of fatally shooting two women on the night of August 3 at Kanyonyo market. The constable, who was reportedly in a relationship with one of the victims, is on the run after the gruesome double murder.

• The officer allegedly dropped his loaded AK-47 rifle while fleeing and escaped towards Matuu.
• The victims' bodies were transported to Kitui Level Four Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
• One victim was reportedly attempting to intervene in a dispute between the officer and his lover when she was also shot.
