The Harambee Stars, Kenya's national football team, have been awarded Ksh42 million after their historic 1-0 victory over DR Congo in the opening match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Sunday, August 3.

• The reward fulfills President William Ruto's pledge of Ksh1 million per player for every match won during the tournament.
• The entire Ksh42 million was distributed among 27 players and 15 technical staff members.
• This marks Kenya's first-ever win in the CHAN finals, secured by a first-half goal from midfielder Austin Odhiambo at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
