The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader, Cleophas Malala, to answer for a helicopter landing incident at Mumias Sports Complex stadium during school games. Malala is expected to appear at the DCI offices in Kakamega on Friday, August 8. The authorities allege his actions endangered lives and violated aviation regulations.

• Western region police commander Issa Muhamoud warned of criminal charges for Malala and the pilot for the unauthorized landing during a highly-attended school final.
• The helicopter reportedly landed during halftime of a football match between Musingu High School and St Joseph's Kitale, causing panic among attendees.
• This is not the first time Cleophas Malala has been summoned by the DCI; he was previously called in May concerning a chaotic political event in Western Kenya.
