President William Ruto has strongly defended the Hustler Fund against a "damning report" by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), which called for its abolition. Speaking at a private sector roundtable on Wednesday, August 6, Ruto emphasized the fund's benefits to Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).

• President Ruto stated the Hustler Fund has a repayment rate of 83 percent, refuting KHRC's reported default rate of 68 percent.
• The Head of State highlighted that the fund provides access to credit history for 26 million Kenyans and has enabled 650,000 Kenyans to benefit from bridge loans.
• Ruto accused the KHRC of elitism, noting that beneficiaries have collectively mobilized Ksh5 billion in savings.
