Kenya is mourning the passing of trailblazing politician and women's rights champion Dr. Phoebe Asiyo, who died at age 90. The Child Welfare Society of Kenya (CWSK) is paying tribute to her significant legacy in child welfare, particularly during her tenure as Chief Executive Officer from 1969 to 1980.

• Dr. Phoebe Asiyo served as CEO of CWSK for 11 years, playing a pivotal role in establishing child protection systems in Kenya.
• Under her leadership, CWSK gained approval as an Adoption Society, expanding its reach through initiatives like the Mji Wa Salama Children's Home in Mombasa and Arap Moi Children's Home in Nakuru.
• Ms. Irene Mureithi, CEO and Managing Trustee of CWSK, lauded Dr. Asiyo’s unwavering commitment, stating she helped shape Kenya’s adoption and family-based care frameworks.
