A man suspected of multiple murders in Gem Yala sub-county, Siaya County, was lynched and his body burned by an angry mob after police allegedly released him to the public. The 40-year-old suspect had been arrested on the night of August 6 in Kisumu County following a tip-off.

• The suspect is believed responsible for a series of killings targeting women and schoolgirls in Gem Yala.
• The mob reportedly dragged the suspect from Yala Police Station to the Yala boda boda stage, beat him to death, and then set his body ablaze.
• Gem Yala Sub-County Police Commander Charles Wafula confirmed the arrest, stating officers were forced to retreat as residents threatened to burn their vehicle.
