President William Ruto has appointed Charles Karondo, a former Personal Assistant to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, as the new Chairperson of the Board of the Communications Authority. This appointment, effective immediately and revealed via a gazette notice on Friday, August 8, revokes the previous appointment of Mary Wambui Mungai.

• Charles Karondo will serve for three years as the new CA boss.
• The appointment triggered the revocation of Mary Wambui, also known as 'Wambui wa Ruto', who had been in the position since December 2022.
• Mary Wambui faced scrutiny over an ongoing Ksh2.2 billion tax evasion case, which was later dropped by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in January 2023.
