Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira has urged security officers to intensify efforts against electricity vandalism, which is causing significant economic disruption in Kenya. This call came during the commissioning of a rural electrification project in Kandutura village, Laikipia North Constituency.

• The government is considering re-initiating a Public-Private-Partnership project to develop and maintain high-voltage power transmission lines and substations, following the cancellation of a $736.6 million deal with Adani Energy Solutions and Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco).
• Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira highlighted the increase in power vandalism, describing it as economic sabotage that disrupts services and endangers communities.
• New substations are planned for Ol-Kalou in Nyandarua County and Rumuruti in Laikipia County, alongside geothermal power generation from Menengai area in Nakuru County, to improve regional power supplies.
