The head of Tunisia's powerful Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) has vowed to defend the organization following accusations of "corruption" and "mafia" links from protestors backed by President Kais Saied.

• The UGTT stated the protest included "an attempted attack" on its headquarters.
• UGTT chief Noureddine Taboubi affirmed, "We will not be silenced."
• The UGTT was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2015 for its role in Tunisia's democratic transition.
