The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) rejected a Public Private Partnership (PPP) proposal from US-based Everstrong Capital for the Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway, citing a failure to meet criteria under the PPP Act of 2021.

• The proposal for the 440-kilometre highway was rejected by the PPP Committee during its 54th Ordinary PPP Committee meeting on July 2, 2025.
• KeNHA has directed Everstrong Capital to restructure the project, potentially expanding the existing highway, for resubmission.
• The decision follows the submission of a 2300-page feasibility study report by Everstrong Capital's Senior Advisor, Kyle McCarter, less than two months prior.
