A disturbing video from the recent Kutiti Festival at Nairobi’s Carnivore Gardens shows popular comedian Bella Comedy being violently assaulted by businessman Pavilion Kipkosgei as onlookers failed to intervene, sparking outrage and reigniting the debate on bystander intervention in gender-based violence.

• Victim, comedian Bella Comedy, described the attack in a tearful TikTok video as humiliating and painful, noting the indifference of onlookers.
• Assailant, businessman Pavilion Kipkosgei (also known as Motiriot Kipkosgei or Pavilion Lounge), punched Bella repeatedly and dragged her out of view.
• Bella has obtained a P3 form for a police complaint, is undergoing medical treatment, and rejected reconciliation efforts.
• Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Nominated Senator Hamida Kibwana condemned the assault, urging Kipkosgei to surrender.
