President William Ruto has launched the construction of the Tom Mboya University Student’s village in Homa Bay, marking the first student accommodation project under the Affordable Housing program in Kenya.

• The ambitious project will provide 2,064 beds for students and is the initial step in a nationwide initiative aiming to deliver 170,000 beds across universities, Kenya Medical Training Colleges, and technical training institutions in its first phase.
• President Ruto emphasized that this program is part of a broader housing agenda, which has already yielded 160,000 housing units and over 400 new markets countrywide.
• The project is designed to enhance student safety and well-being, generate over 1,500 direct and indirect jobs, and integrate the Homabay Jua Kali sector with ring-fenced contracts valued at approximately KES 285,000,000.00.
