The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) is protesting the “militarisation” of security at Del Monte pineapple plantations after two men died in separate incidents involving police and G4S guards within four days. The KHRC alleges a disturbing pattern of violence against locals.

• The latest victim, 30-year-old Stephen Marubu, was fatally shot during protests over the death of vegetable vendor Michael Muiruri.
• Muiruri, 31, died on August 8, 2025, after being hit by a G4S guard driving a Toyota Hilux (registration KBZ 441E).
• KHRC demands immediate arrest and prosecution of the G4S guard, full compensation for Muiruri’s family, and accountability for Del Monte and G4S.
