The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Kenyan police officer in Nairobi for allegedly soliciting a bribe in a defilement case. The police constable, stationed at Sarangombe Police Post, reportedly demanded Ksh4,000 from a victim's mother to arrest the suspect.

• The EACC operation on Wednesday, August 13, led to the arrest of the officer and a civilian intermediary.
• The arrests occurred just days after an EACC report, the National Ethics and Corruption Survey 2024 released on August 5, named police officers as the most corrupt professionals, accounting for 29.93% of bribe receivers.
• The survey further revealed that 99.5% of bribes paid were in cash.
