The Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) has petitioned President William Ruto and other leaders, demanding an immediate halt to what they term as “unlawful and unconstitutional” levies imposed on truckers by several county governments. These charges, ranging from Ksh500 to Ksh30,000 per truck, are accused of inflating operational costs and commodity prices nationwide.

• The KTA has identified seven counties specifically for charging extra fees on national roads and transit routes.

• Counties such as Machakos are charging an annual Truck Registration Fee of Ksh2,500, with penalties reaching Ksh30,000 for non-compliance.
