Sofax Fluorspar Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s Mizztech Group to refurbish its processing plant in Kerio Valley, signaling a significant boost for Kenya’s mining sector and the revival of fluorspar exports.

• The MoU sets the stage for an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to be finalized within six months.
• Sofax Fluorspar Kenya acquired a 25-year mining licence from the State Department of Mining on June 3, valid until 2050.
• The partnership aims to modernize operations for producing Acidspar Grade Fluorspar (97% CaF₂), a critical industrial mineral, and is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in the region.
