President William Ruto has established a new multi-agency team, the Multi-Agency Team on War Against Corruption (MAT), to intensify the fight against corruption and economic crimes in Kenya. This initiative, announced on Tuesday in a presidential proclamation, aims to improve coordination across various government bodies in investigations, prosecutions, financial intelligence, and asset recovery.

• The MAT brings together 10 state agencies plus the Executive Office of the President (EOP) and the Office of the Attorney General.
• Key organizations involved include the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
• The EOP will chair the team, with the Attorney General’s office serving as its secretariat.
