Kenya Railways has announced the imminent launch of a new intracity train service in Mombasa, designed to enhance convenience for both Madaraka Express passengers and daily commuters. This 17-kilometre rail link will connect the Mombasa SGR Terminus in Miritini to the Mombasa Central Business District (CBD), addressing a long-standing transport challenge.
- The project, costing an estimated Ksh4.2 billion, began in September 2022 and experienced delays due to land acquisition.
