Former Radio Ramogi journalist George Otieno, known as Ajo Mbuta, has declared his intention to contest the Kasipul parliamentary seat left vacant after the murder of MP Charles Ong'ondo Were. The November 27 by-election, announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), will see Otieno, who previously lost to Were, compete against other hopefuls.

• Ajo Mbuta came in second in the last general election for the Kasipul seat against the late Ong'ondo Were.
• Key candidates competing for the seat include Newton Ogada, Robert Riaga, Philip Aroko, and the late MP's son, Boyd Were.
• Otieno spent a decade at Royal Media Services, notably co-hosting a popular breakfast show at Ramogi FM with the late veteran journalist Ben Oluoch Okello.
