Old Mutual has launched the Boda Riders Super Cover, a new insurance solution in partnership with the Kenya Boda Boda Association (KBA), Rescue.Co, Incourage Insurance, and Rafiki Microfinance Bank. This initiative aims to provide financial support to boda boda operators for hospitalization costs and last expense benefits, addressing the sector's significant risks.
- Insured riders will receive KES 1,000 per night for hospital stays, up to 50 nights annually, starting from the third night.
- The next of kin will receive a KES 100,000 last expense benefit in case of death.
- The boda boda sector comprises over 1.6 million active riders in Kenya and accounted for 35 percent of all road deaths in 2023.
