The National Ethics and Corruption Survey (NECS) 2024 reveals that bribery remains prevalent for accessing public services in Kenya, despite an overall drop in the average bribe size. While the average bribe decreased, certain regions and sectors continue to demand alarmingly high amounts for services and employment.

• The average bribe size dropped from KSh 11,625 in 2023 to KSh 4,878 in 2024.
• The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) conducted the survey across 47 counties.
• The highest bribe for employment was KSh 243,651 for County Executive offices, and Kenya Wildlife Service topped agencies with an average bribe of KSh 200,000.
• Uasin Gishu recorded the highest average bribes at KSh 25,873.
• The Kenya Police, Traffic Police, and Immigration were flagged as most vulnerable agencies, while police officers and KRA officers were most linked to unethical conduct.
