Britam Insurance has launched its first Electric Vehicle (EV) insurance cover in Kenya, joining GA Insurance in providing specialized coverage for electric vehicles. This new product addresses key concerns for EV owners by covering high battery costs and limited repair infrastructure, notably through its Battery Protect Cover Extension.

• The cover uniquely safeguards the battery and electric motor system, which are among the most expensive components of an EV.
• Britam Insurance stated its commitment to a wider sustainability agenda, having installed three EV charging stations with six ports at its Nairobi headquarters in 2023.
• The insurance also extends to privately used electric motorcycles and includes benefits like personal charging equipment coverage and an out-of-charge recovery service.
