In a pre-dawn operation on August 23, 2025, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), in collaboration with NGAO and Nairobi Regional police, raided an illicit alcohol den in Soweto village, Kahawa West, destroying over 10,000 litres of toxic Kangara.

• Over 10,000 litres of illicit brew were destroyed, part of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen’s 100-day rapid results initiative.
• NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa commended the raid, stating it sends a clear signal to peddlers.
• The multi-agency team seized 30 jerricans of Chang’aa and destroyed brewing equipment, urging the public to report suspicious activities via hotline 1192.
