Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), has advised Mt Kenya residents to accept money offered by President William Ruto during his tours, but to withhold their votes, accusing the President of trying to regain public trust. He also urged them to work towards making Ruto a single-term president.

• Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Tangwa accused the Ruto administration of orchestrating violence during Gachagua's return to Kenya on Thursday, August 21.
• Violence marred Gachagua's arrival from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), with attacks on people, including journalists, along Mombasa Road.
