Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, Opiyo Wandayi, has established the First Oil Technical, Commercial and Legal Working Committee to expedite the commercial development of oil discoveries in Block T6 and Block T7 in Kenya.

• The Committee's primary mandate is to negotiate the initial technical and commercial agreements necessary for oil development and safeguard Kenya's interests.
• The committee is chaired by Joseph Otieno and comprises 36 members.
• The taskforce will also advise the government on policy and regulatory frameworks, and recommend a land access framework to ensure long-term access for oil development.
