Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has voiced concerns regarding payment inconsistencies for the Inua Jamii funds, affecting elderly and vulnerable constituents. The issues arose after the payment system transitioned from bank deposits to mobile money.

• Affected beneficiaries have not received their monthly stipends since the switch to mobile money, despite being regular recipients previously.
• The MP, Gathoni Wamuchomba, claims this change has led to a lack of accountability and is “depriving the sick, the disabled, the youths and now the elderly!”
• The Ministry of Labour recently disbursed Ksh4.6 billion for June and July Inua Jamii payments, with beneficiaries expected to receive Ksh4,000 each due to previous delays.
• Problems with the mobile money system include discrepancies in beneficiaries’ identification details, particularly age, recorded since January.
