Pressure is mounting on Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale to reveal the individuals behind a significant fraud scheme at the Social Health Authority (SHA). Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot challenged Duale to identify those responsible for the alleged fraud, even as he commended efforts to crack down on facilities defrauding SHA.

• SHA investigations uncovered disturbing trends including upcoding, falsification of medical records, converting outpatient visits into inpatient admissions, and phantom billing.
• Ksh10.6 billion in claims have been rejected due to fraudulent activities or non-compliance.
• 40 facilities have been suspended by SHA, an additional 45 will be degazetted, 728 non-compliant facilities closed, and 301 downgraded by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• Flagged hospitals include Nabuala Hospital, Kotiende Medical Centre, Vebeneza Medical Centre, Jambo Jipya Hospital, Al-Masry Nursing Home, Care Connect Hospital, and Zamzam Nursing Home.
