Students at St. Stephen's Usingo Secondary School in Siaya County staged protests early Tuesday morning, demanding the immediate transfer of their principal over alleged poor leadership and mismanagement, just a day after reopening for the third term.

• The students accused the principal of demanding money despite a teacher shortage and cited inadequate food and poor diet, stating, "We are tired of the same meals every day."
• Protests began around 6 am, with learners outside the school gate, some hoisting placards and twigs.
• The incident follows a similar protest in April at Ramba Boys High School in Siaya, where students torched a security house and demanded their principal's removal.
