The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) killed at least five Al Shabaab militants in an ambush within the Boni Forest in Lamu County, recovering significant operational items.

• Five Al Shabaab militants were confirmed killed, with others injured during an intelligence-led patrol in Lacta Mangai.
• The KDF, under Operation Amani Boni (OAB), recovered AK-47 rifles, Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers with warheads, ammunition, solar panels, tents, and IED-making materials.
• This operation follows a recent July 25 attack where suspected Al Shabaab militants raided Basuba village and a nearby General Service Unit (GSU) camp, firing four RPGs.
