Former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura has resigned as Chairman of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) Board after just eight months, citing irreconcilable political and personal conflict with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) government.

• Kembi Gitura, who was gazetted as chair on December 20, 2024, stated his inability to freely criticize government policies on governance and corruption while holding the position.
• He affirmed his continued opposition to the UDA government, emphasizing his political stand ahead of the 2027 Kenyan General Election.
• Gitura, who vied on a Jubilee ticket in 2022, clarified his resignation was not due to any shortcomings at KUTRRH, which he praised as a successful institution.
