Veteran activist Boniface Mwangi has officially announced his bid for the presidency in 2027, making the declaration at Ufungamano House, a site significant for its role in Kenya’s governance history.

• Mwangi stated his campaign, themed "Mwanzo Mpya" (New Beginning), is driven by the need to combat corruption and the rising cost of living, promising to recover illegally acquired wealth to fund free education, healthcare, and water.
• Notable supporters at the launch included his son, Nate Mwangi, who will be a first-time voter in 2027, as well as former Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana and Auma Obama.
• His activism, sparked by the 2007/2008 post-election violence, now aims for a "ballot revolution," following recent protests where youth casualties were a significant concern.
