A Ugandan shoe hawker and TikToker, Mr. Juma Musuuza alias Madubarah, has been convicted in Entebbe on six counts, including hate speech and spreading malicious information, for ridiculing President Yoweri Museveni, his son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and Speaker Anita Among of the Ugandan Parliament.

• Musuuza used his TikTok account, Madubarah UG, to post a video in October 2024 implying the country would be destroyed if Museveni’s son became president.
• The complaint against Musuuza was initiated by Fred Tumusiime, a special liaison officer for the Special Forces Command (SFC).
• The defense argued for a lenient sentence, stating Musuuza is a breadwinner and has been in remand for over 10 months.
