The Kenyan government has defended its decision to hire a U.S.-based lobbying firm, stating it is a legal and strategic investment aimed at advancing the nation's interests in Washington. This comes after reports questioned the regularity of the deal.

• Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi stated the engagement aims to push Kenya’s trade, investment, and security agenda, and complies with Kenyan law and the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
• The firm, Continental Strategy LLC, will focus on securing favorable trade deals post-AGOA and rallying support for Kenya's leadership of the Haiti security mission, in addition to attracting investment and promoting tourism.
• Mudavadi emphasized that hiring lobby firms is not a new practice, with every Kenyan administration since independence having done so, calling it a "strategic investment with guaranteed returns."
