A former employee of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has been convicted and fined for fraudulently earning over Ksh.7 million using a forged academic certificate. Lawrence Masinde Barasa, an ICT Assistant, was found guilty of multiple charges related to his deceptive employment.

• Lawrence Masinde Barasa was ordered to pay a mandatory fine of Ksh.14,347,926, which is twice the Ksh.7,123,963 unlawfully obtained in salaries and benefits.
• The conviction was delivered by Nairobi Anti-Corruption Principal Magistrate Charles Ondieki.
• Barasa used a forged Diploma in Information Technology certificate, purportedly from the Eldoret Polytechnic, to secure his position at NCWSC.
