The African Angel Academy (AAA) has launched its 12th cohort of investor training to address a Sh25 trillion ($194 billion) annual funding shortfall faced by African startups, particularly early-stage businesses, according to the African Development Bank.
- Since 2020, AAA has trained over 770 investors from 26 African countries, contributing to 216 deals worth Sh6.9 billion ($53.6 million), with Sh930 million ($7.2 million) directly invested by graduates.
- The new program, featuring Mechanics of Angel Investing and Advanced Angel Investing tracks, begins on September 17, 2025.
- Kenya continues to lead in African startup investment, raising $638 million (Sh82.5 billion) in 2024, accounting for 29 percent of Africa’s total startup funding, with a shift towards climate-tech and agri-tech.
