Tragedy struck a family in Ngurubani town, Kirinyaga County, as four members perished in a house fire. The incident claimed the lives of a man, his wife, and their two daughters, with varying accounts surrounding the fire's origin.

• Julius Mwangi, 63, initially escaped the fire but later died at Mwea Mission Karira Hospital, hours after his wife, Winnie Njeri, 50, and their daughters, Grace Wawira, 13, and Ivyjune Njoki, 4, were found dead in the burnt house.
• Police are investigating the circumstances, as a night watchman reported hearing the couple fighting before the fire started around 1 AM, while Mwangi had initially claimed they were attacked by unknown individuals.
• The deceased's eldest son, Samuel Mwangi, now faces the task of burying four family members and suspects the fire was connected to an earlier attack on him by "goons."
• Tebere Ward MCA, Peter Karinga, stated that the community is contributing to cover funeral and hospital expenses for the family.
