Bomet Governor Hillary Kipng’eno Barchok and former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati were summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on September 1, 2025 over corruption allegations. They presented themselves at the EACC headquarters in Nairobi and are expected to be arraigned in court.

• Governor Barchok faces charges of conflict of interest and unlawful property acquisition in Bomet County involving contracts worth Ksh.2.75 million.
• Wangamati is accused of embezzling over Ksh.70 million in public funds during his tenure in Bungoma County.
• The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has consented to charge both governors along with several associates and company directors.
