The High Court has cleared the way for the arrest of Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok, refusing to block his detention over graft allegations. This decision comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, ordered his prosecution for alleged conflict of interest.

• Governor Barchok is accused of receiving Ksh2.75 million from companies that traded with Bomet County between financial years 2019/2020 and 2024/2025.
• The DPP also ordered the prosecution of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati for allegedly embezzling Ksh70,205,882 through private companies.
• Both governors face charges including conflict of interest, money laundering, and acquisition of proceeds of crime.
