The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released the requirements for candidates participating in the November 27, 2025 by-elections for 24 seats across Kenya.

• Candidates must be Kenyan citizens by birth for at least 10 years and, if holding dual citizenship, must renounce it before taking office.
• Nomination fees range from Sh10,000 to Sh50,000, depending on the seat and candidate category (e.g., women, youth, persons with disabilities pay reduced fees).
• Independent candidates must provide a list of between 500 and 2,000 supporters with ID copies and must not have belonged to a political party within three months of the by-election.
• Vacant seats include 16 ward positions and major constituencies like the Baringo Senate, Banissa, and Ugunja National Assembly seats.
