Kenyan Members of Parliament have flagged stalled multi-million shilling projects at Masinde Muliro and Kabianga Universities during an inspection tour. Issues included contract alterations, illegal renewals, and significant delays, raising concerns about public fund misuse.

• A Ksh78 million swimming pool at Masinde Muliro University, initially for Olympic size, was altered to Olympic standard, leading to contract termination at 65 percent completion.
• Bumula MP Wanami Wamboka, leading the Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education, questioned the management’s decisions and illegal contract renewals.
• At Kabianga University, an over Ksh800 million library project, commenced in 2017 and due in 2020, remains 72 percent complete, with delays attributed to insufficient government funding.
• MPs also investigated the illegal use of Ksh3 million for fuel imprest at Kabianga despite an existing fuel provider contract.
