Kenya is set to host the 24th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) Summit in October, bringing together heads of state and government from 21 member countries to boost intra-African trade and economic integration. The summit aims to build on recent growth in regional trade, which reached approximately Sh14.4 trillion in 2024.

• Intra-African trade saw a 7.7 per cent growth, increasing from Sh13.4 trillion in the previous year to Sh14.4 trillion in 2024.
• Regina Ombam, Principal Secretary for Trade and Investment, emphasized the importance of value addition and the role of Special Economic Zones and Export Processing Zones Authority in promoting economic integration.
• The summit also addresses shifting global trade dynamics, including protectionist stances like new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in the United States.
