A joint crackdown by Nairobi County and the National Police Service has been launched against criminals in the Central Business District (CBD) due to a surge in muggings, including those using the incapacitating "Devil's Breath" technique. This initiative follows widespread social media outrage and victim testimonies.

• Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, announced the crackdown on Wednesday, September 3, targeting gangs disguised as 'hustlers' who rob unsuspecting people, often after 5:00 PM.
• "Devil's Breath" is scientifically known as scopolamine, a potent compound used by criminals in powder form to disorient victims, making them surrender belongings, sometimes unknowingly.
• Concerns were also raised about street families colluding with unlawful waste disposers to rob residents, leading to plans to remove them from CBD backstreets, with additional police officers deployed.
