Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Secretary General Barack Muluka has criticized Kenya’s political elite for using power for self-preservation, citing the recent impeachment saga of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja as a prime example.

• Muluka called the political interventions to save Sakaja a “salvation baraza” replacing genuine governance.
• He dismissed the idea of a “broad-based government” between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, terming it unconstitutional under Article 3(2) of the Constitution.
• Kilimani MCA Robert Alai confirmed that ODM leader Raila Odinga’s intervention led to the withdrawal of the impeachment motion against Sakaja.
• Muluka warned that probing Nairobi’s governance could open a “Pandora’s box” of deeper failures.
