A 55-year-old man, Mumo Nthiwa, has been arraigned in a Machakos court for possessing items linked to witchcraft, including human hair, skin, and nails. His arrest followed a police investigation into the murder of a woman in Machakos town and an alleged poisoning plot.

• Nthiwa was charged under Section 5 of the Witchcraft Act No. 23, Cap 67.
• The investigation was linked to the murder of Easther Katongo last month in Kathiani.
• Machakos sub-county Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, Nzioka Singi, confirmed the discovery of numerous charms and photographs during a raid on Nthiwa's operating room.
• Makau, initially apprehended performing rituals near a water tank, named Nthiwa as his source for witchcraft items and was later released after being found innocent.
• The court has ordered the destruction of the seized items.
