At least 29 people have died after a boat carrying 80 passengers sank in Nigeria's north-central Niger state on Tuesday. The accident occurred on the Malale River and was attributed to overloading and collision with a tree stump.

• A total of 29 bodies were recovered, with 2 people still missing and 50 rescued.
• The boat was traveling from the village of Tugan Sule to Dugga.
